What is an Escape Room?

Real Life room escape games are a type of physical adventure game in which people are locked in a room with other participants and must use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within a set time limit.

The rooms are a little like video games comes to life . They’re filled with gadgets and puzzles that teams – usually of two eight people- have to solve in order to escape.

The Attic (Ventura Location)

After the passing of your Great Aunt last year you find yourselves at the old family beach house from your childhood looking for a document with the name of the prior inheritor. You had assumed your great Aunt Ida would have left it to you anyway but the name on the copy the family attorney possesses is scratched out and unreadable. After searching all of the other rooms you find yourself in the Attic.

You realize that it was the one room in the house you’d never been in. You once tried to go in here when you were younger but your aunt scolded you telling you you must never ever go in there. Her words seemed to echo in your mind as you rummage through the old furniture and it isn’t till you find an old diary entry that you start to question why it was that this room was off limits. unable to find the named document you turn to the door to leave and find it stuck. And as you rummage around looking for a key you find more and more . . . questionable evidence of a family member you never knew existed. Will you be able to escape with your happy family memories intact, or will you be another skeleton locked in the attic

Gold Fever (Solvang Location)

The California Gold Rush of 1849 left everyone with gold fever. Jed Ironwood made his way west like so many others to strike it rich. According to legend Jed told stories of one particularly prosperous day. What happened to Jed and his gold is a tale that only the walls of this cabin know. Unfortunately for you, a notorious gunslinger nicknamed The Rattlesnake Kid has also heard the tale and is rumored to be on his way to this very cabin.

Phantom of the Big Top (Solvang Location)

A Circus Troupe arrived at the edge of a town called Solvang, (seemingly overnight and unannounced!) claiming to be: “The Ultimate Circus Experience.”

People are skeptical and curious. There had been a rumor of a Carnival arriving at the edge of towns unexpectedly circling the internet. This rumor describes amusements that could only exist in dreams, and baffling feats right out of the scariest nightmares. But when people who’ve attended are asked about the big top show, the answer is always the same: “You have to see it to believe it!” Come one! Come all! Witness the grandest spectacle as Ella’s Mental Circus Presents: “Phantom of the Big Top!”

The Mischievous Nisse (Solvang Location)

It is that time of year again. When family converges on the holiday house in the countryside. You could all use some time together as it has been several years since everyone in the family has been there at the same time. You head over to the village market in order to get into the spirit. While enjoying the sights and smells of the season you agree that this year will be less about tradition, and more about having a relaxing casual celebration without all the usual expectations.

Upon returning home you find out that your family Nisse (gnome like creature) is not happy with your decision, and has other plans up his sleeve for Jul (Christmas holiday season in Sweden) – According to him your family home has kept up traditions for generations, and you will not be the first to break that. In order to escape his mischief you must create a Christmas atmosphere to celebrate with all the traditions kept up.

The Wizard's Lair (Ventura Location)

Once upon a time there was a peaceful village governed by a wise counsel of elders. The counsel had made peace with a magical fairy from afar and it taught them the magics of agriculture, telepathy, and astral projection. The wise counsel used these powers to protect the village for years until one day the greediest elder kidnapped the fairy to harness her powers for himself. He ran into the mountains to make a lair in the forest and study her magics until he became well versed in them. He called himself “The Wizard” and ever since that day he would use the magic of the fairy to terrorize the village and the Elders that would oppose him.

Thus, they set a reward for anyone brave enough to venture into the wizards lair and rescue the fairy. You are one such group of brave souls willing to take on the challenge. Will you have what it takes to use the wizards magic against him and escape with the fairy?

Twisted Tales (Ventura Location)

When you were a child and you were read a bedtime story, your imagination brought the story to life, creating a link between fantasy and reality. These links are portals, allowing fantasy to seep into reality. Once the story is finished, the main characters live happily ever after, the villains are vanquished, and these links are closed.

Today you have been summoned on a mission because a child has nodded off to sleep before finishing their bedtime story, mixing dreamland with fantasy. The villains have taken this opportunity to use the magic of the child’s imagination to twist the stories and change their endings, and now it is up to you to set them right.

You have been granted the power to rewind from “The End” to “Once Upon a Time” and save the child’s innocent heart. You must remain unnoticed by the child and the villains, while you have 60 minutes before sunrise to return to the story and right the wrongs before the magic of storyland becomes forever corrupted.

Demented Doctor

Harvard undergraduate Ryan Smith, a promising, young student of computer science has gone missing. You are Ryan Smith’s close friends who, despairing that the police will never find Ryan, decide to take matters into your own hands to investigate.

Ryan is a model student, but as his friends, you all noticed him acting a little weird lately. Together, you conclude that everything went bad for Ryan after he became a volunteer in Dr. Aheid’s mind-enhancement research-study here on campus. At first, Ryan claims to have benefited from the experiment and said he felt like his brain was on overdrive even though, during therapy, the gas also made him fall fast asleep.

Eventually though, Ryan began having vivid waking nightmares and became increasingly paranoid. Unsure if it was a dream Ryan once claimed to have woken up during the experiment to Dr. Aheid and his assistant having a ferocious fight over who should get the bigger cut selling the experimental gas to their shadowy foreign client. It wasn’t long after this that he went missing.

With the help of Ryan’s best friend and roommate, Huxley the computer hacker, you steal the janitor’s keys and quietly sneak into The Demented Dr. Aheid’s office to discover the truth.
